FOREST LODGE LIBRARY BOARD MEETING
SEPTEMBER 7, 2005

The Meeting was called to order at 6:05 pm by Vice President Jill Williamson

Trustees Present: Elaine Gemuenden, Jill Williamson, Kate Wright, Susan Reynolds, JohnSill; Library Assistant, Mary Ann Allen; TOC Board liaison, Sue Benson.

Approval of Agenda:  Motion by John, second by Kate;  Agenda approved as printed.


Approval of August  2005 Board Meeting Minutes:  Motion by John, second by Susan to approve.  Motion carried. 

President’s Report:  Tabled.  President absent.

 

Library Director’s Report:  Tabled.  Director absent.


Monthly and Year-to-Date Financial Report:  Tabled.

 

Endowment Report: Book sale will be at the library, normal hours,  during Fall Fest.  Games will be Saturday, 10:00am - 2:00pm.  We will sell what we have left (bratwurst and hotdogs), 11:00am - 2:00pm.  Need to purchase buns.

Old Business:  - 2005/06 Budget discussion - Susan discussed the TOC emerg meeting held August 4.  Town Board to act on at their next regularly scheduled meeting.  

                - Joint Library Status - short discussion on Ashland County property anexation and similarities. 

                - Grants and Fundraising - Libri Grant is a matching grant for children's material.

                              - The TOC sewer grant is closed out.  We can proceed with our application. 

                              - We have to submit our grant request prior to the next census.  The survey taken, that allows us grant eligibility,

                                is based on that census. 

                              - Discussion tabled.  We, as a board, need to rethink what we really want vis a vis new location, programs,

                                costs. 

                              - status of Holly Henry's resignation.  Forwarded to TOC Board.  Bev Bauer in the list of candidates.
                             
New Business: 
- Fall Fest Planning.  Discussed at the Endowment meeting and as noted.

               - Bayfield County Library Board - No report.

               - Annual Giving Campaign - if approved, a plan to impress upon the community the need for a cash influx not provided            by other sources.  We need major emphasis on fundraising effotrs - next meeting.  We can also request moniey from              the Griggs Burke Foundation. 

               - Statistics Year-to-Date.  Tabled.  

 

Community imput:  Provided by Susan Benson, above, reference the sewer grant payoff.
