Reading Carnival - Friday, July 6th
On Friday, July 6th, The Forest Lodge Library invites any and all kids to attend a Reading Carnival on the library and adjacent grounds. The library hopes that you’ll show up, have fun and take home prizes, pleasant memories and the desire to read this summer!
The event will begin at 11 with a MAKERSPACE event on the grounds of the building (The Book House) just west of the library. Kenton Whitman will teach kids how to tie some basic, useful knots and will also show those attending how to weave a bracelet, which they can take home with them. If they make more than one, they can take more than one.
At noon we’ll offer a light lunch and there will be games to play on the lawn as well as a story-reading station to check in at. Game winners will have an opportunity to fish for prizes.
At one o’clock it’s puppet theater behind the library. Puppeteer Pam Corcoran will offer her show The Queen of Hearts, acted out by her hand-made, wool-felted puppets.
Also on this day, any kid wishing to do so can sign up to set themselves a summer reading goal, which the library would be happy to help with! Those signing up and, later, meeting their goal, will be eligible for prizes to be awarded at the end of the summer reading season, which is to say, the end of August.
