Library Strategic Plan
The Forest Lodge Library Board and a community committee made up of 5 members met as the Strategic Planning Committee in 2005 to complete a SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) and develop a list of possible goals for the future of the Forest Lodge Library. This Committee sponsored a community forum to gather further input. The Strategic Planning Committee established the following goals and strategies:
Funding
Establish stable funding for annual operations- Encourage County Board to continue funding at 100%
- Continue to make the County Library Committee aware of our funding needs
- Continue to make the Cable Town Board aware of our activities and funding needs
- Become and continue to be a joint library with the Town of Namakagon (2007)
- Increase circulation to increase future funding
- Continue to increase Katie Flowers Endowment
Collections
Continue development of a library collection that focuses on:
- Collecting books that many other libraries in the state do not have
- Maintain and build collection of natural history adult and juvenile books
- Provide for Lifelong learning and continuing education
- Be continually aware of demograhics and circulation statistics in selection of other collection acquisitions
- Continue partnerships with NWLS, Merlin and WISCAT
- Continue to offer technology to patrons, keeping award of current trends and circulation statistics
- Provide Caldecott/Newberry Children's books
Programs
- Offer children and youth programs that improve literacy and provide reading opportunities in and ouside the home(summer reading program, adult programs, book club for children/youth/adults)
- Offer Volunteer/Service opportunities (tutoring, reading to younger and older, internet pros)
- Offer lifelong learning experiences.
Facility Development
- Develop a handicapped accessible facility
- Develop a commons area
- Provide circulation desk and staff office space
- Provide area for children, teen and adult sections
- Provide technology space
- Continue to offer charming atmosphere similar to that of current historic building
- Write CDBG Grant Proposal
- Develop fundraising plan
- Assess possible library expansion or new site possibilities in order to increase our service capacity
